When Bolton Wanderers will make contract decisions of 10 players with deals expiring in 2023

Ian Evatt says Bolton Wanderers will monitor the situation as the season unfolds regarding contracts of several players in his squad whose deals expire next summer.

Wanderers are seeking to make more additions in the transfer window but the deadline of 11pm on Thursday, September 1. Four signings have been made so far this summer.

Eoin Toal and Jack Iredale have joined on permanent deals. James Trafford and Conor Bradley have signed up for the season on loan from Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.

Though Wanderers are seeking to make further acquisitions prior to the transfer window closing and that being the main focus right now, the Whites have one eye on the contract situation within the current squad. There are several players whose Bolton deals run out next summer as things stand.

Some 10 first team players have contracts which are now in their final 12 months. This includes Will Aimson, Joel Dixon, Josh Sheehan, Kieran Lee, George Thomason, MJ Williams, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Elias Kachunga, Amadou Bakayoko and Lloyd Isgrove.

Evatt believes Wanderers are in a decent position on the contract front though, but there are lots of variables up in the air at the moment. There is a desire to get the transfer window out of the way first before assessing each individual's players circumstances and monitor it during the season as decisions are made.

Evatt told the Manchester Evening News: “Ideally, we want to get the transfer window out of the way and there are still lots of ifs, buts and maybes. I don’t necessarily think it is a bad position for us to be in.

"But yeah, we will monitor it as the year goes on.
