When and what time Gladiators is on TV tonight and everything you need to know

After more than 30 years since it first aired Gladiators is making a return to terrestrial television this weekend.

The popular game show will see a number of male and female contenders compete against 'Gladiators' in a host of speed and strength-based events. It will feature brand-new games alongside classic challenges including fan-favourite The Eliminator.

Gladiators was originally broadcast on ITV from 1992 to 2000 and was presented by Ulrika Jonsson, John Fashnu and Jeremy Guscott. It made a brief return to Sky between May 2008 and October 2009.

"There’s no point putting contenders down and making them feel bad." However that's not to say there won't be any villainous-style characters - similar to fan favourite Wolf in the original series.

Dynamite, real name Emily Steel who is from Manchester, added: "I think everyone will have their favourites, there’s people playing certain roles within the show.

“We’ve got some guys who are bad to the bone and others (who are) more hero type.”

Here is everything you need to know about the new series including when it is on, the sixteen Gladiators taking part and who is presenting and refereeing.

Gladiators is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Saturday 13 January at 5.50pm. It is one for one hour.
