What time local elections 2023 results are due in each borough of Greater Manchester

People across Greater Manchester have been heading to the polls to vote in the 2023 local elections.

Elections were being held in more than 200 local authorities across the country as voters elect their new councillors - including in the 10 Greater Manchester boroughs.

These include the councils that run Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.

The local elections allow voters to have a say on who they think should run their local public services.

Polling stations are open from 7am and close at 10pm. This year's elections were slightly different as for the first time voters who arrived to cast their ballot at polling stations needed to provide a form of photo identification.

Local election result counts take place at different times depending on the borough. This means some will get underway as soon as the polls close while others won't begin until Friday - meaning some results may not be known until Friday evening.

We've had a look at the timings for each Greater Manchester borough so that you know when to expect the results in your area.

Residents in Bury are voting to elect a representative in each of the borough’s 17 wards. Vote counting is not expected to begin until the afternoon on Friday.

Results due: Friday, May 5 from 5pm

All 60 seats in Bolton's wards are up for grabs in the election and will see the entire council elected. Counting is due to start after polls close overnight.
