Air ambulance scrambled as man left fighting for his life after falling from bridge
Emergency services rushed to a major city centre road after a man fell from a bridge this afternoon. He was left with potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.
Police were called to reports that a man had fallen from the Hulme Arch Bridge, off Princess Road, at 3.35pm today (May 4). Paramedics and two air ambulances attended and took the man to hospital.
Traffic was at a standstill as the bridge and surrounding roads, including inbound and outbound traffic on the junction with the Mancunian Way and Greeneys Lane were temporarily closed. They have since been reopened.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
Inspector Phil Marsh of City of Manchester Central district said: “Enquiries are still ongoing at this time to try and establish the circumstances of this incident, which has left a young man seriously injured.
“We would therefore be grateful if anyone who saw the incident, or may have captured it on dashcam footage, to give us a call via 101 or through the Live Chat function on the website www.gmp.police.uk.”
