Emma Raducanu remains one of Britain’s best chances of success at Wimbledon despite an up and down year since her win at the US Open in 2021.

Raducanu, 19, came from relative obscurity to win her first major but will be hoping that the extra pressure and spotlight that comes with being Britain’s best hope can be a motivating factor rather than a distraction. If her performance against Alison Van Uytvanck in the first round is anything to go by, it looks like the number 10 seed feels comfortable on the biggest stage at Wimbledon.

Emma Raducanu will be playing at Centre Court once more as her run in this year’s Wimbledon Championship begins to get rolling. She beat Belgian Van Uytvanck in straight sets on Monday and showed the kind of form and assurance that saw the 19-year-old reach the fourth round here – and ultimately win the US Open in 2021.

Raducanu has had a difficult time since her maiden slam win, struggling with injury and changing several coaches since she became the first qualifier in the Open era to win one of the four biggest tournaments. However, she looked fit in her first round victory against the world number 46 earlier this week and Raducanu could certainly do with a bit of luck on that front if she is to go deep at SW19 this year.
