What Sofyan Amrabat told Erik ten Hag about playing at left-back for Manchester United
Summer recruit Sofyan Amrabat admitted he told Erik ten Hag that he would play wherever he needed him to after starting at left-back in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

Ten Hag made seven changes to the side that beat Burnley 1-0 in the Premier League just 72 hours earlier, featuring a first start for Amrabat, who joined the club on loan from Fiorentina on transfer deadline day. However, he was deployed at left-back amid United's ongoing injury and illness crisis in the full-back positions.

Amrabat, though he is a defensive midfielder by trade, had played at left-back in the past, and he did not look fazed by being handed that responsibility. He tucked into midfield when United had possession of the ball.
"I told the manager that I would play where he needed me or where the team needed me," Amrabat told Sky Sports. "I will play where I can help the team.
"Today it was left-back but I had a bit of a free role. I think you saw that I played a lot in the midfield, so it was nice, it was good."
On the specifics of his role, the Moroccan added: "I think you can see that I like to pass the ball always. Of course, I am not a left-back who plays from the line and waits there.
