What Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore's rival managers are saying in League One promotion race

Sheffield Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Lincoln City on the weekend was a missed opportunity for the Owls as they fell to eighth place in the League One table.

It was a blow for Wednesday as their recent good form had suggested they might be able to look for a a late charge up towards the automatic promotion places once again.

Such is the closely fought nature of the League One table, Darren Moore's side are only four points behind fourth place with two games in hand, so a playoff spot is comfortably in their hands. They simply can't miss more opportunities like they did against Lincoln at the weekend. Time is running out to catch the top three teams, with MK Dons and Wigan on 72 points, whilst Rotherham have 76.

With the table so tight, here is what the managers of some of the clubs immediately above Wednesday are saying about the promotion race and their current form.

The Black Cats have gone four games unbeaten, drawing with Burton Albion and Charlton Athletic and beating Wigan and Fleetwood Town but Neil was not impressed with his side's performance against Fleetwood on Tuesday.

"I've been saying over the last few weeks, what we have to do is separate performances from results," Neil said.

"The result was excellent; the performance was extremely poor.
