What's been said about Anthony Elanga's Manchester United future amid transfer speculation

Anthony Elanga's time at Manchester United may be coming to an end.

Big things were hoped for the exciting forward when he broke into the United first team under Ralf Rangnick and he showed promise with goals against Brentford, Leeds and Atletico Madrid. However, his progress began to falter and he rarely featured last season.

Elanga slipped down the attacking order following the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho under Erik ten Hag and only made 26 appearances without scoring. The 21-year-old is no longer in the manager's plans and could leave this summer.

The Swede nearly departed in January on loan but United pulled the plug on the deal late on deadline day. Everton was the team he was supposed to join and the Toffees have renewed their interest.

United are only demanding a reasonable £10million for Elanga and Everton reopened talks last week. Here is what the player and manager have said about his future.

Speaking after his international teammate Emil Forsberg urged RB Leipzig to sign him in June, Elanga said: "It is always nice to hear praise from Emil, who I know very well," he told Aftonbladet. "Emil has won everything, he is a legend in Leipzig and a legend in Sweden.

"Hearing such praise from him is something that makes me laugh and smile. But right now I’m focusing on the matches with Sweden and then we’ll see what happens after.

"It’s been hard but I can’t control it, it’s just a matter of being strong in the head and showing that I’m ready when the coach wants me to play, but right now the season is over, and it was a good season for the club."
