What Pep Guardiola told Man City coaches when Rodri scored late goal at Chelsea

Pep Guardiola warned his Manchester City assistant that the game was far from over when Rodri scored what looked to be the winning goal against Chelsea.

In a topsy-turvy game that had seen both sides take the lead at different stages of it, City's hero from Istanbul struck a shot in the 86th minute that deflected past Robert Sanchez off Thiago Silva to make it 4-3 to the Premier League champions. City players celebrated emphatically with their supporters but still had to make it through eight minutes of added time and a Cole Palmer penalty in that period saw the game level for a fourth and fifth and final time.

Guardiola praised the quality of both teams for an enjoyable game. And even if he wasn't expecting it to be so open, by the time Rodri scored he had seen enough to know that City had not done enough at that point to claim the victory.

"We spoke with Juanma when Rodri scored, we said many things were still going to happen. Many things happened," he said.
