What next for Tom Rogic as Celtic hero issues definitive answer on rumoured transfer

Departing Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic says a homecoming isn't on the cards - but a fresh opportunity is needed.

The Australian was in tears as he bid farewell to the Hoops during their Premiership title celebrations against Motherwell.

Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo Furuhashi doubles along with Jota and David Turnbull goals ensured an easy 6-0 win for Ange Postecoglou's team after a strong first term under his leadership.

Long-serving pair Nir Bitton and Rogic have been in Glasgow since 2013 but their exits were confirmed ahead of Saturday's match to allow them a proper goodbye.

A minute's applause on his squad number's 18th minute met the playmaker before being left emotional as he was subbed off to another massive roar on the hour mark.

There's a decision to be made now on where he goes now but the Parkhead hero insists his next destination hasn't been a talking point yet.

He told Channel 10: “I’m not sure yet. Now isn’t really the right time – I’ll just reflect on the career I’ve had here.

“I am ready for a new challenge and a change of scene is something that will motivate me. I’ll sit down with my agent in the coming weeks and discuss my options.

“Right now it’s just about what a great time I’ve had here and enjoying my last couple of days.”

One place he definitely won't be going to is the A-League. Rogic left Central Coast Mariners in 2013 for Celtic but a return to home soil isn't on.

When asked if that could be ruled out, he replied: “Probably yeah, that seems unlikely.”
