What Marcus Rashford did during international break as Man United star shows true colours

Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford took it upon himself to undergo a personal training regime despite missing out on an England call-up during the international break.

Rashford has undergone a tricky 12 months after an astonishing 30-goal season in 2022/23. Last year, the forward's confidence dropped in line with the teams' as he bagged just eight goals and six assists.

Such form meant he missed out on the European Championships squad in the summer. Despite a regime change at international level, Rashford missed out on an England call-up again this month having failed to get off the mark for United.

The winger was then subjected to a difficult atmosphere at Old Trafford as the Reds were thumped 3-0 by Liverpool. When Erik ten Hag decided to substitute Alejandro Garnacho instead of Rashford for Amad, there were audible boos around the stadium.

After a draining beginning to the campaign, it would have been easy for Rashford to jet off to warmer climes to clear his head before the Premier League returns at the weekend. Instead, the 26-year-old chose to remain in Manchester and conduct a personal training regime with RH Elite Coaching.

Taking part in individual sessions at non-league's Ashton United and West Didsbury and Chorlton's stadiums, Rashford went through a number of drills which mainly focused on his finishing. The United forward also practised his free-kicks and penalties ahead of Saturday's trip to Southampton.
