'We need more' - Manchester United players are doing what Erik ten Hag asked

Judging by Manchester United's last two results, it can be argued the international break came at just the right time for Erik ten Hag and his players.

Having signed off for the recent pause on the back of two successive defeats, including a 3-0 home reverse to Liverpool, it was hoped United would be better for the early-season hiatus.

After beating Southampton 3-0 at St Mary's in the Premier League on Saturday, the Reds brushed Barnsley aside in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, winning 7-0 to record their biggest win under Ten Hag.

Goals from Marcus Rashford (2), Alejandro Garnacho (2), Christian Eriksen (2) and Antony put the League One side to the sword, securing United their place in next week's fourth round draw. It was a brilliant attacking display from Ten Hag's side, who will have undoubtedly gained more confidence ahead of this weekend's trip to Crystal Palace as a result.

After Antony, who was making his first start for United in any capacity since May, converted a first-half penalty and Eriksen then netted a brace inside the final 10 minutes, it was a reminder that United do have various sources of goals within their ranks.

Playing six competitive fixtures so far this season, United have had seven different goalscorers contribute to their overall tally of 13 goals, with Garnacho currently leading the way on four. Rashford is close behind him on three.

Although there is a weight of expectation on Garnacho and Rashford to consistently find the back of the net as goalscoring wingers, it is still positive
