What Manchester United need more than anything in 2024

Many would have doubted the rollercoaster of emotions Manchester United fans found themselves on, back in January.

At the start of 2023, there was plenty of optimism to be shared among the fanbase. The strategic review was in its infancy, Erik ten Hag had hit his stride and the club were well on their way back to the Champions League.

However, by the second half of the year, the mood had drastically changed. From the hope of a full sale, United had now conceded the Glazers would not be leaving, the same frailties on the pitch had come to the fore and the return to the Champions League was best left forgotten.

Fortunately, there were some green shoots of recovery over the festive period. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's arrival was finally announced on Christmas Eve after months of speculation and the players showed they were still fighting for their manager thanks to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.

As the nights have become shorter, the Reds' supporters have faintly seen light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, we have all been burnt before so United's New Year's Resolution is quite frankly a no-brainer. What they need more than ever is stability.

INEOS' arrival in the early stages of 2024 is as much upheaval as the club should be stomaching next year. For the past decade, the Reds have stumbled from one crisis to another as the long-suffering fans watch on with bated breath.

For once, United need to be one of the more serene clubs in the Premier League, rather than the basket case. This considered and calm approach should also be extended to Ten Hag.
