What Man City's 25-man Premier League squad could look like with two exits and three new names

It's been a quiet summer at Manchester City, yet there will still be a very different feel to the club's Premier League squad for the new season.

Julian Alvarez has left, as has squad member Sergio Gomez, earning City more than £70m before add-ons. Savinho has signed and will go straight into the first-team squad after initial plans were to loan him out.

In terms of the official 25-man squad City have obviously lost Gomez and Alvarez, but they are not the only changes. Of the maximum 25 players named, up to 17 can be 'non homegrown', meaning they were not trained in England and came through an English academy. Any player born on or after January 1 2003 will count as an under-21 player and can be left off the final list.

Last season, Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol counted as under-21 players, but must be included on the main list this term, in effect replacing Alvarez and Gomez. Savinho is still 20 and is eligible as an under-21 player for the next two seasons.

However, James McAtee is 21 and must now be included on the main list - although he is homegrown. Pep Guardiola says he will be part of the squad this season, and the player himself accepts he will not get as many minutes as he did on loan at Sheffield United last season.

Oscar Bobb remains an under-21 player for one more season, with Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly eligible for another two and three years respectively. Maximo Perrone, if not loaned out, counts as an under-21 player by just six days.
