What Jadon Sancho has to do at Manchester United after Erik ten Hag incident

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has claimed the only way Jadon Sancho can move on from his recent rift with Erik ten Hag is by producing much-improved performances.

After failing to catch the Dutchman's eye during training in the build-up to United's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month, Sancho was left out of the matchday squad for the clash at the Emirates Stadium. Ten Hag addressed Sancho's absence in his post-match press conference and it resulted in the former Borussia Dortmund man responding with a statement issued on social media.

The 23-year-old disagreed with Ten Hag's comments and it remains to be seen if he will be drafted back into the former Ajax boss' plans for Saturday's clash with Brighton & Hove Albion. He has featured in three of United's opening four matches this season, coming off the bench in all three games.

Sancho has failed to kick on since joining United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021, scoring just 12 goals and registering six assists in 82 appearances.

One way or another, the current situation needs to be resolved quickly. United are short on wide options and Sancho needs to make the most of any opportunities that come his way if Ten Hag looks to welcome him back into the team.

And for Silvestre, who spent nine years in M16, Sancho needs to respond to recent events by proving that "he can make a difference" in United colours.
