What is the latest news with Keane Lewis-Potter amid West Ham transfer talk?
Hull City star Keane Lewis-Potter certainly hasn’t done his chances of making the step up to the Premier League any harm after his brace against Reading at the weekend.
He may have scored two reasonably close-range finishes against Paul Ince’s men – but his overall performance was a pleasure to watch and it’s those displays that show exactly why top-tier sides have been tracking his signature for a number of months now.
As per a report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein yesterday, West Ham United are set to open talks regarding a potential move for the 21-year-old, a potential blow for the Tigers who have already seen one of their former prized assets in Jarrod Bowen make the switch to the London Stadium.
According to that same article from The Athletic, Lewis-Potter has been valued at around £18m, a potentially surprising price tag considering his contract at the MKM Stadium expires in just over 12 months.
However, David Moyes’ side aren’t alone in their quest to recruit the England youth international with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly scouting him last week as they also weigh up a potential approach for his services.
The London-based duo are the two sides that seem to be locked in a battle to win the race for his signature at this stage, although Brentford submitted a £12m bid for the 21-year-old way back in January.
This bid was unsuccessful, potentially giving other previously-interested outfits like Southampton a chance to re-enter the race in the summer.
They could potentially be met with firm resistance though with Hull owner Acun Ilicali and manager Shota Arveladze both desperate to keep hold of some of their most prized assets, though they may have to sacrifice the winger if they want to bring in as many as 10
