Northern Ireland turned the tables on Scotland as they took on the role of underdog at Hampden and thrived on it to with Liverpool starlet Conor Bradley delivering the only goal of a friendly win.

The performance produced by Michael O'Neill's men is something the Tartan Army have become accustomed to seeing under Steve Clarke during the national team resurgence in recent years. And the good news is that that none of Scotland's three Group A Euro 2024 rivals - Germany, Switzerland and Hungary - are likely to set up in the same stuffy way as Northern Ireland when it comes to Germany this summer.

However, that doesn't mean Clarke and his men were let off the hook as former players-turned-pundits analysed the defeat. Record Sport picks out what they had to say.

Miller, speaking to BBC Sportsound, said: “When we start these games with slow pace, 70 percent of possession and passing and going nowhere, we find it really difficult to get ourselves out of that sluggish style of play. We did a bit in the second half but by then it’s too late. I don’t think we should kid ourselves on that we have an abundance of players that can turn games like this round. We’ve got midfield players that can score goals if we create opportunities. We created a lot of opportunities against the Netherlands but against Northern Ireland we didn’t create that many chances and it was a really stubborn performance from the opposition.
