What Arsenal target Youri Tielemans thinks of Thierry Henry amid Leicester transfer decision

Arsenal transfer target Youri Tielemans has previously revealed that Thierry Henry could go on to become a good coach in the future as he continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Belgium midfielder has consistently been linked with a switch to north London, with Mikel Arteta on the search for midfield recruits ahead of next season.

The prospect of signing him might just have been boosted recently with it being suggested by Fabrizio Romano that Tielemans will not pen a new deal with Leicester. With his current contract set to expire in 2023, that decision could well force the Foxes hand to sell him this summer.

Whilst there of course will be a scramble for his services, Chelsea and Manchester United have been noted as admirers in the past as well as a clutch of foreign sides, Arsenal will hope they are at the front of the queue for his services.

Intriguingly, Tielemans has already has Gunners connections having been coached by Arsenal icon Thierry Henry during the pair’s time with French outfit AS Monaco.

The legendary forward was in charge at the Stade Louis II for a few months during the 2018/19 season.

His appointment did not work out and was sacked in January - intriguingly the same month Tielemans became a Leicester player - but the midfielder was left impressed.

Talking to Sky Sports shortly after Henry’s arrival, he said: “He’s a really good coach. He has some ideas that he wants to put in the team and it’s coming better and better.

“The team is working really hard to change the things.

“Yes sure [he can become a good coach]. I knew it from here when he was the second or third coach in Belgium.

“Yeah he has a really good knowledge of football and he tries to transmit this to his players.”
