Arsenal legend Thierry Henry calls out Man Utd flops amid Ralf Rangnick criticism

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says Manchester United’s players need to take responsibility for the club’s inconsistent form and stop blaming their managers.

Premier League giants United have largely struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all paying the price for the team’s struggles.

Ralf Rangnick was placed in temporary charge of United in November but recent reports have claimed the players are unconvinced about the German and are privately questioning his methods.

Henry says the blame ‘cannot always be on the coach’, however, and has urged Manchester United’s players to step up and ‘understand’ where they are.

‘The way they play is not Manchester United,’ the former Arsenal and France striker told CBS. ‘It’s not the United that I know, I don’t know what it is.

‘I don’t usually like to have a go at players but you had a teacher like Louis van Gaal, who is successful, they called [Jose] Mourinho “Dictator” because he was too much into this, too much into that. He was too direct with the players. They players didn’t like it.

‘Suddenly you have a friend in [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer who was more of a dad, a nice guy.

‘When is it going to be about the players? They have to deliver. I’m not a Man United fan but when you play for Man United you have to deliver regardless of who the coach is.

‘It cannot always be the coach. I’m sorry, those guys need to perform and start to understand where they are.’
