'What a load of pants' - Wolves fans deliver Conor Coady to Newcastle United transfer verdict

Wolves fans have given their verdict on rumours linking Newcastle United with a £25m move for central defender and club captain Conor Coady.

Eddie Howe's side are battling for their Premier League lives and, backed by new Saudi investment, they have already splashed the cash this winter on the likes of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood as they aim to stave off relegation.

They have now reportedly turned their gaze to Coady in a bid to bolster a leaky defence.

According to the Daily Star, Newcastle are ready to pay in excess of £25million to sign Coady, who is a popular figure at Molineux.

The Star report adds that the sale of Coady would only be sanctioned if Newcastle lodge a bid that is 'too good to turn down', with Coady's current deal running until 2025.

Wolves, chasing European football next season, have no need to sell the 28-year-old, and fans have made it quite clear what they think of the reports.

One fan said: "We adore Coady and he adores us. He’s on a very good wage at Wolves as it is and if we wanted to match your wage offer we could do."

Another added that Newcastle "might be the richest club but that’s one rumour that will never happen".

One final fan concluded: "As an individual player, £25m might be enough. For what he means to this Wolves team right now, £125m wouldn’t be enough."
