Wexford veteran Daithí Waters announces retirement

Long-serving Wexford midfielder Daithí Waters has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

Waters made his debut in the 2009 O'Byrne Cup against Kildare, and went on to play more than 100 times for the county in league and championship combined.

He also had a spell in the senior hurling squad under former manager Liam Dunne back in 2015.

At club level, Waters tasted success in both codes, captaining St Martin's to their first ever county senior football title in 2013, and following that up with senior hurling success in both 2017 and 2019.

The Wexford manager Shane Roche described him as an outstanding footballer and an inspiration to the young players around him.
