Westminster Academy 'acid attack' with pupils and staff rushed to hospital

A suspected acid attack has left a teenage girl with horrifying injuries in London.

The Mirror reports that cops received reports that an "acidic" substance was allegedly hurled at students and a staff member at the Westminster Academy in central London. Medics and firefighters rushed to the scene to treat a 14 year old girl, a 16 year old boy and a 27 year old woman, who were injured during the attack yesterday.

Officers were taken to hospital as a precaution following reports that they were feeling unwell. Multiple crime scenes have been put in place. The girl is said to be suffering from potentially life changing injuries. She remains in hospital at this time. The boy was also hospitalised, however, his injuries are not life-threatening. The woman has since been discharged.

Police have launched a manhunt in a bid to track the attacker. Scotland Yard said: "Tests of the substance are ongoing. At this stage officers believe it to be acidic. Urgent enquiries are under way to identify and arrest those responsible."
