Western Province skin Lions in Currie Cup attacking show of force

Western Province may have scored just one try more than the Lions (five to four) in the game but the Capetonians showed their scintillating attack in the Currie Cup, which has also been the mark of their senior Stormers side in Europe.

As a result of some slick play and passing, Province's Currie Cup campaign got off to a fine start with a 44-28 bonus-point victory over the Lions at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Some familiar weapons came out for the team John Dobson decided to coach himself - instead of deferring to others like the other three United Rugby Championship franchises - such as Clayton Blommetjies, Suileman Hartzenberg, Angelo Davids and Scarra Ntubeni.
