West Lothian football clubs back in action as East of Scotland Football League gets underway

West Lothian’s 11 East of Scotland Football League clubs are back in action this weekend as the 2023/24 season gets underway.

It’s no doubt set to be another fascinating campaign across the coming months as our teams battle for promotion and local bragging rights - and it all kicks off on Saturday.

With Linlithgow Rose promoted and Blackburn United demoted, Broxburn Athletic are now the county’s only sixth tier side and get their Premier Division campaign up and running at home to top flight new boys Glenrothes.

Blackburn United’s bid for an instant return to the top flight starts at home to Arniston Rangers while fellow Division One outfit Whitburn - fresh off two straight promotions - are also at home. They take on Oakley United.

Armadale Thistle are West Lothian’s only representative in the Second Division and they welcome Edinburgh South to Volunteer Park while seven West Lothian sides feature in the Third Division and many will have high hopes for promotion.

West Calder United missed out on the final day last term and they start away to Linton Hotspur while the first derby of the season sees Bathgate Thistle host Fauldhouse United at Creamery Park.

Pumpherston took huge strides in Darren Pegg’s first season as boss and they’ll be aiming to get things off in style as they host Hawick Royal Albert.

Livingston United are away to newly named Edinburgh Community, formerly Craigroyston, while it’s a trip to Lochgelly Albert for Stoneyburn.

Harthill Royal are in cup action first up and face a challenging start with an East of Scotland Qualifying Cup tie at home to Lowland League side Edinburgh University.

There’s a host of midweek fixtures too with all clubs playing on Tuesday or Wednesday.
