Gustaf Lagerbielke to Celtic transfer timeline revealed as clubs close to sealing £3million deal

Celtic will push to seal a deal for Gustaf Lagerbielke next week.

The Scottish champions have tabled a £3million bid with Elfsborg for the Swedish international. Talks have been on-going with the Allsvenskan leaders and significant progress has been made over the past 48 hours. Swedish sources have confirmed that a deal with Celtic is close and is likely to be sealed after this weekend’s fixtures. Elfsborg play Hammarby while Celtic are at Aberdeen.

The eventual deal for Lagerbielke is likely to see Elfsborg smash their previous record transfer sale. Lagerbiekle has made it clear to his current club that he wants to make the move to Scotland and for a crack at the Champions League. Celtic made their move for Lagerbielke after selling Carl Starfelt to Celta Vigo in a £4 million deal earlier this week. The Hoops have Cameron Carter-Vickers and new signing Maik Nawrocki as their first choice central defensive pairing but want to bring in another, alongside Steven Welsh, to beef up the competition.

Celtic are also in the market for another right-back, winger and another striker for the Champions League group stages. That could be added to if Celtic decide to cash in on any of their other first-team players.

Meanwhile, Torino are set to step up their interest in Rocco Vata. The Serie A side are keen to land the talented Celtic youngster, who is now in the final year of his contract. The Turin club have been tracking the Republic of Ireland youth cap for several months and are set to make an approach to the Hoops.
