"West Ham would do everything possible...": Journalist drops claim after surprise rumour emerges

West Ham will do “everything possible” to avoid selling players to Tottenham this summer, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Tomas Soucek is the man in conversation, with the Czech Republic international being linked with a shock move to Spurs, but Brown says that GSB will do everything in their power to stop the Hammers midfielder from signing for their biggest London rivals.

Despite an impressive first two-and-a-half seasons as a West Ham player, Soucek’s long-term future at the London Stadium is currently in doubt.

He might have more than two years left on the four-year deal he penned when he signed permanently in 2020 but talks over a contract extension and a pay rise have recently stalled.

According to Football Insider, West Ham will now listen to offers for the ex-Slavia Prague ace after falling out with David Moyes, while the same outlet believe Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign the 27-year-old when the window reopens for business.

The report states there’s now ‘tension’ with Moyes behind the scenes and reckons there’s a ‘real chance’ that Soucek leaves the Hammers this summer.

But Brown doesn’t think the West Ham hierarchy will even consider entertaining interest from Antonio Conte’s side.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think West Ham would do everything possible to make sure they don’t sell any players to Spurs this window, which is something that has been historically the way between the two clubs.”
