West Ham transfer news: Early update on summer plans, Sullivan & Gold have big Moyes fear

Transfer insider Dean Jones reckons that GBS will repay David Moyes by giving him “big” funds to spend at West Ham this summer.

Moyes guided the Hammers into Europe last season and has made them top four contenders once again this term.

Despite the second half of the campaign shaping up to be an exciting one for the Irons, there’s an element of frustration surrounding the London Stadium following their lack of movement in January.

West Ham are in the fifth round of the FA Cup, last 16 of the Europa League and remain firmly in the conversation to qualify for the Champions League, even though their form has dipped recently.

But the Hammers failed to address certain positions that needed strengthening in the winter window, leaving Moyes with just three fit centre-backs and Michail Antonio as his only senior option up front.

West Ham’s lack of squad depth was highlighted against sixth-tier Kidderminster on Saturday after Moyes summoned the cavalry to come and rescue his side from an embarrassing fourth round exit.

Declan Rice and co did prove the difference, but it the manner of the victory only continued the dampened mood around the place heading into a potential season-defining month ahead.

But Jones reckons that the togetherness that Moyes has created will see him rewarded with large funds to spend this summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think the unity that David Moyes has built within that squad has been unbelievable and the board do appreciate the turnaround he’s managed to put in place so they do want to repay him for that and obviously a certain part of them will be scared that they upset him, he gets the hump, and someone puts in an offer to take him away, but they don’t want him to leave any time soon.
