West Ham transfer news: Crucial update on Declan Rice's future
Manchester City and Manchester United have made advances for West Ham United star Declan Rice ‘in the last six months’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Rice came off the bench to stop the Hammers suffering one of the biggest FA Cup upsets in history when, on Saturday, he fired home a stoppage time leveller against Kidderminster Harriers before Jarrod Bowen saw off the non-leaguers in the final moments of extra-time.
It appears suitors will have to part with huge sums if they want to prise Rice away from the London Stadium as West Ham boss David Moyes has claimed the midfielder is worth more than £100million.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to be keen on striking a deal to secure Rice’s services when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
According to The Telegraph, West Ham are bracing themselves for big-money offers and their chances of keeping the 27-cap England international have suffered a blow thanks to their inability to strengthen Moyes’ squad last month.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has agreed to Rice being one of their top summer targets, while it has been suggested Chelsea would need to offload N’Golo Kante to win the race for his signature.
Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy reacted to Rice’s vital contribution at Kidderminster by likening him to Steven Gerrard, which is no mean feat considering he enjoyed a trophy-laden career.
