West Ham: 'Plausible' that £42.5m star follows Broja to London Stadium

The prospect of West Ham United signing both Gianluca Scamacca and Armando Broja this summer ‘doesn’t seem to make much sense’, according to journalist Dean Jones.

David Moyes is expected to strengthen his options in attack ahead of next season and has been tipped to sign both the Sassuolo star and the Chelsea youngster.

A recent report from The Guardian has revealed that West Ham have ‘submitted an improved bid’ for Broja which will total around £30 million plus add-ons.

The Albania international is also said to be close to agreeing personal terms with the eat London outfit after telling Chelsea he wants to move on a permanent basis rather than securing another loan move.

And the same outlet also state that the Hammers are ‘in talks’ over a deal for Scamacca, who bagged 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo last season.

However, it’s claimed the Italian outfit could demand up to €50m (£42.5m) for their prized asset, who is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 giants are reluctant to pay the 23-year-old’s valuation, though, meaning West Ham could be in pole position for his signature.

Adding both Scamacca and Broja to Moyes’ squad would see West Ham start 2022/23 with three strikers in their first-team squad alongside Michail Antonio, and Jones believes it may be difficult to keep the trio happy next term.

He told GiveMeSport: “People around the club are talking like it’s plausible that they do sign both. I just find it hard to believe that that can happen.

“It just doesn’t seem to make much sense to me that you’d bring in both of those guys on top of Antonio and just be able to keep them all happy.”
