West Ham: Late move for £27m star now 'one to watch' at London Stadium

West Ham have no problem with getting involved in the race for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 22-year-old is attracting interest in these final days of the window, and Jones says he is definitely someone who the east London club and David Moyes have been looking at.

As per The Times, Crystal Palace have made a £27m bid to re-sign Gallagher before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The Englishman, who is also said to be a target for Newcastle United, spent last season out on loan at Selhurst Park, where he thoroughly impressed.

From midfield, Gallagher was able to score eight goals and provide five assists in all competitions.

Since then, he has returned to his boyhood club Chelsea and has featured in all four of their fixtures so far. However, it has not been the dream homecoming for him after he was sent off against Leicester City last time out and substituted around the hour mark the game prior.

The Blues currently have issues in midfield, something manager Thomas Tuchel has recently spoken about.

“The headache before the season was, ‘Do we have too many players there?’ It comes to the fifth game and we have only two left with experience in this position, and Kova [Mateo Kovacic] from the bench,”
