West Ham insider says GSB will now go hell for leather to sign 'rapid quick' star this summer
As per Claret & Hugh, a major update has come to light on GSB’s transfer plans for West Ham United involving Benfica star Darwin Nunez.
It is believed that West Ham boss David Moyes is personally determined to sign the prolific, in-demand striker who may well be one of the big name transfers of the summer window.
Another recent report by C&H detailed Moyes’ personal desire to land Nunez with the Scotsman at work behind-closed-doors since missing out on him in January.
The Irons currently have a very worrying lack of depth up front with Michail Antonio currently Moyes’ only natural senior striking option.
Now, according to another update by West Ham insider C&H, the club and GSB are ‘set to go hell for leather’ in their bid to sign Nunez for Moyes this summer.
West Ham have apparently ‘confirmed’ to the site that Nunez is a ‘top priority’ summer target – with one key source explaining that the club would ‘love’ to sign him.
Signing the in-demand 22-year-old, who is also on the radar of many Premier League clubs, would be a huge statement of intent on GSB’s part.
Benfica are reportedly likely to demand somewhere around £60 million for their star striker, a fee which would require West Ham to smash their transfer record.
His form, however, indicates he could be worth every penny – especially going by his prolific 28 goals and three assists in all competitions this season.
Still young and with many years still ahead for a promising career, Nunez has also attracted lofty praise for his physical attributes, with Anfield Index podcaster Hari Sethi hailing him for being ‘rapid quick’, ‘really strong’ and an ‘absolute beast’ after Benfica’s clash with Liverpool this week (Twitter).
Taking this into account, it’s little wonder
