West Ham have 'genuine interest' in £30m midfielder at London Stadium

West Ham United have a genuine interest in signing Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski this summer after missing out on Jesse Lingard, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor. 

David Moyes is in the midst of strengthening his side ahead of the 2022-23 campaign with the club no doubt eyeing a return to Europa League football. 

The Hammers are interested in signing Zielinski this summer with reports in Italy suggesting that Napoli have lowered their asking price for the Poland international. 

They state that Luciano Spaletti’s side were previously demanding £34 million for Zielinski’s signature but would now consider offers of just under £30 million.

Poland manager Paulo Sousa has previously spoken highly of him too, dubbing Zielinski: “an exceptional player.”

However, it has also emerged that the 28-year-old is not overly eager on making the switch to east London this summer.

It is a story that follows West Ham’s move for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca with the Italian set to sign a five-year deal at the London Stadium.

Eintracht Frankfurt ace Filip Kostic has also been identified as a target with the left-winger targeted after the club missed out on Hoffenheim’s David Raum to RB Leipzig. 

Taylor understands that West Ham’s interest in the attacking midfielder is genuine as Moyes attempts to strengthen his side further before the September deadline passes. 

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “That’s genuine interest. Which I find kind of interesting because he’s a bit more of an established player, which would align with the attempted Lingard move as well. Obviously, Lingard’s getting on a bit now. He’s experienced. Same with Zielinski.”
