West Ham 'definitely want' agreement with £40.5m star at London Stadium

West Ham United midfielder Tomáš Souček could still yet sign a new deal this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £40.5m-rated man’s contract talks had reportedly stalled earlier in the year, with the midfielder linked with a move away from the London Stadium this transfer window.

Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the Czech Republic captain, with David Moyes’ side potentially looking to sell this summer with Souček having just two years remaining on his current deal as of now.

Souček has made a big impact since arriving at the London Stadium in January 2020, making 105 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing two assists, according to Transfermarkt.

However, Jones believes that the 52-time Czech Republic international could still yet sign another deal in east London, and believes that another round of talks could be happening imminently.

The insider also believes that there are people inside the London Stadium who would be delighted if Souček stayed at the club.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “At a time when we’re wondering what’s happening with Declan Rice, West Ham are also in a situation where Souček might go as well.

“So, I believe that there’s another round of talks to come and that Souček could yet still sign a new contract and stay at West Ham and there are definitely people who want that to happen.”

With the uncertainty surrounding the future of Souček’s midfielder partner in Declan Rice, the Irons will want to make sure that they can at least keep hold of the former Slavia Prague man this summer.
