West Ham: David Moyes 'likes' 39-goal 'beast' amid London Stadium links

West Ham United boss David Moyes ‘has been in the market for a striker’ and is an admirer of Blackburn Rovers hotshot Ben Brereton Diaz, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Hammers are preparing to face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, but it seems that has not stopped Moyes looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

According to respected Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Moyes is looking to take advantage of the free agent market and Brereton-Diaz is among those the Scotsman is keeping a close eye on.

West Ham were also linked with the Blackburn man during the January transfer window, but a move away from Ewood Park failed to materialise.

The Hammers are not the only club eager to offer Brereton Diaz a route into the Premier League as Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and strugglers Everton are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Brereton Diaz’s Blackburn career is set to come to a close as his contract is due to expire in the summer.

The 23-year-old’s hopes of walking away having guided the former Premier League champions back into the top flight are currently on a knife-edge as Tony Mowbray’s side are three points adrift of the Championship’s play-off places.

O’Rourke understands that Moyes has set his sights on welcoming a frontman to the London Stadium when the transfer window reopens.

The journalist also believes the West Ham chief is a fan of Brereton Diaz – who has been described as a ‘beast’ by Blackburn boss Mowbray – and, as a result, could look to win the race for his signature.
