West Ham: David Moyes in 'unique situation' at London Stadium

West Ham United manager David Moyes is in a ‘slightly different’ position to any other Premier League boss, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The 59-year-old tactician has endured a difficult start to the current campaign, but his outstanding work in previous years should keep the pressure off his back for now.

Moyes was first appointed as West Ham manager back in November 2017 on a six-month contract, inheriting a side that was languishing in 18th place after two wins from their first 11 Premier League games.

And the Scotsman impressed after taking over the reins from Slaven Bilic, guiding the east London outfit to a 13th-placed finish in the top-flight standings.

However, that wasn’t enough for Moyes to be appointed on a permanent basis, with West Ham’s owners opting to select former Real Madrid and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini instead.

But when Chilean’s tenure turned sour in December 2019, the capital club’s chiefs went back to Moyes, and he has achieved great success ever since.

During his two-and-a-half-year tenure, Moyes has recorded a sixth and seventh-placed finish while also guiding West Ham to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Sheth believes that Moyes’ unique history with the West Ham job means his position is different to those of other Premier League managers currently coming under scrutiny.
