West Ham: £32.3m deal 'very much alive' at London Stadium

West Ham United are still vying to sign Amadou Onana and the deal is ‘very much alive’ after a ‘really substantial bid’ was lodged by the London Stadium outfit, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Hammers are preparing for another season of continental football, after last term’s seventh place finish was enough to secure Europa Conference League qualification, and boss David Moyes has set his sights on adding Onana to his squad.

West Ham have potentially been boosted in their pursuit of Onana as Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has previously told GIVEMESPORT that he believes the Lille star wants to move to east London.

The Hammers are not giving up hope of landing the defensive midfielder as they have tabled a third bid worth £32.3million, plus add-ons.

West Ham failed with an opening gambit of £19.5million, which resulted in Lille insisting at the time that they were unwilling to sanction Onana’s departure.

A second proposal worth £25.5million was also pushed back by the Ligue 1 side, underlining their determination to hold onto their prised asset.

But Moyes is refusing to take no for an answer and remains interested in the one-cap Belgium international, who made 41 appearances for Lille last season.

Taylor understands that West Ham are still chasing Onana and the club are waiting to discover whether their third offer will be enough to seal the deal.

The journalist believes there is still a distinct possibility that the Hammers could land the 20-year-old ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.
