West Ham: £17.5m star 'not showing Moyes enough' at London Stadium

West Ham summer signing Maxwel Cornet is not showing David Moyes enough, believes journalist Paul Brown.

Following his £17.5m move from Burnley (via BBC Sport), the Ivorian winger has been named in Moyes’ first XI just once in the Premier League.

Cornet would have surely liked to have started more games for the Hammers, while a calf injury, albeit a small one, is the last thing he would have wanted this early into his spell at the London Stadium.

Still, things have been far from a complete disaster for the 26-year-old.

While Cornet may not yet be a regular in the Premier League, Moyes has relied on him heavily in the Europa Conference League.

The former Burnley man has featured in all but one of West Ham’s matches in the competition so far, grabbing a few assists along the way.

For the time being, Brown thinks Moyes sees Cornet as an impact sub rather than one of the first names on the team sheet.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “It does seem at the moment that he’s being used, and is more likely to be used, in a kind of super-sub role to come on and try and change games or come up with that one moment of magic that swings something in difficult circumstances.

“It doesn’t look like he’s shown the manager enough to be a regular starter, so it’s a blow for him that he can’t prove it at the moment.”

He certainly has the quality to. In the words of Burnley chairman Alan Pace, Cornet is a “talented player”.
