Welling United 1 Ramsgate 0 match report: Nahum Melvin-Lambert scores winner in Isthmian Premier clash

Welling made it four wins from five games after defeating Ramsgate in Isthmian Premier on Saturday.

Nahum Melvin-Lambert’s early goal proved the difference between the two teams at Park View Road.

The Wings made one change from the team that won 3-0 at rivals Dartford last weekend with Sam Smith replaced by Ryan Blackman.

Ramsgate boss Ady Pennock, back at the club he managed for two seasons from 2005, named an unchanged XI from the side that defeated St Albans 4-0 last Saturday.

Welling made a flying start and took a deserved lead after just five minutes when Zak O’Keefe’s deep right-wing cross was turned in at the far post by Melvin-Lambert.

The Wings dominated the opening 20 minutes with their aggressive press but lacked quality around the penalty area.

Ramsgate took their time to get going, top scorer Callum Jones saw his header from an Alfie Paxman left-wing cross comfortably gathered by keeper Mackenzie Foley.
