'Welcome home' — Man City fans react after Sergio Aguero statue unveiled at Etihad Stadium

On the 10th anniversary of Manchester City's first Premier League title win, the club have unveiled a statue of Sergio Aguero to pay tribute to the Argentine's glittering career in sky blue.

Aguero's title-winning strike on May 13, 2012, has been immortalised in a permanent statue outside the Etihad Stadium, joining the statues of Vincent Kompany and David Silva that were unveiled last summer. Like the others, the statue has been created by award-winning sculptor Andy Scott and has been made using thousands of welded pieces of galvanised steel.

The pose chosen for the statue is the moment Aguero whipped his shirt off while celebrating his last-minute goal, whirling it around his head before being mobbed by his teammates.

It's an impressive piece of art, one that City fans on Twitter have been keen to have their say on.

@beagleblueF1: Unbelievable. Brilliant tribute to a City legend.

@Jaidev_Tripathy: Props to the artist and the craftsmen for spending their time carving this masterpiece, and recording permanently the most beautiful moment in football history for the club. Unreal

@viveketernal: The artist is 3/3 now. Amazing work!!

@MCFC1977: Absolutely stunning and well deserved. Welcome home today Sergio

@EddieJM2: Actually this combination could be of Aguero and Balotelli. That was a KEY pass.

@LilyHayeswoof: goose bumps. my god

@C_Mackrory: Rename the family stand please.. Aguero End or something..

However, not everyone was as impressed...

@erraticspace: Really like the statue but it doesn't look so much like player (at least to me)

@Gnsn_Mcfc: Imo we should of [sic] done normal bronze ones for all of them.
