Wealdstone v Wrexham: Parkinson insists players are fully focused after Ryan Reynolds visit
Wrexham AFC return to league action as they travel to Wealdstone this weekend, hoping to get their promotion campaign back on track.
The Dragons have failed to win their last two league matches, as the ten man Reds were held to a home draw against Maidenhead United before slumping to a disappointing defeat away at Torquay.
The Reds were victorious in their FA Trophy tie against Boreham Wood last weekend however and manager Phil Parkinson insisted his players are fully focused on Saturday's vital National League clash, despite a surprise visit from co-chairman Ryan Reynolds on Thursday.
The Deadpool star and one half of the club's ownership duo, alongside Rob McElhenney, turned up unexpectedly at the Racecourse and took time to have a brief chat with players, staff and Phil Parkinson himself.
Parkinson said: "Ryan and Rob don't get much of a chance to come over due to work commitments but it was good to touch base with Ryan today and it was a flying visit so he was in and out really. It was a good day but we're heading down to London on the coach on Friday and we can now be 100% focused on what's required at the weekend."
Wealdstone's home game on Tuesday was called off and there is a chance that due to the severity of Storm Eunice, Saturday's match could also fall victim to the adverse conditions.
Parkinson revealed that he had travelled down for the game on Tuesday only to find the game was postponed. He said: "I went down on Tuesday and the game was called off. There's rain forecast but also a lot of wind which could dry the pitch so we're hopeful the game will be on."
