‘We won't bottle it’ - Mikel Arteta makes Arsenal Premier League claim amid Man City race

Mikel Arteta is refusing to give up on Arsenal’s fading Premier League title dream ahead of their clash against Nottingham Forest.

A shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend led most to believe the Gunners' title hopes had ended. Manchester City beat Everton by the same scoreline earlier in the day to move four points clear at the top of the table - with a game in hand.

Arsenal were eight points clear six weeks ago but a string of poor results allowed Pep Guardiola to take advantage. City need one more win to guarantee their third straight Premier League trophy.

Bookmakers are offering 1/500 for Man City to lift the title, with some already paying out following the Gunners’ slip-up. Astonishingly, Guardiola is priced as short as 4/7 to complete an historic treble next month.

However, Arsenal boss Arteta will not give up on the league until the fight is mathematically over. Despite blundering an eight-point lead, the Spaniard insisted his team are not going to “bottle” the title.

“We have shown this season (that we can be title contenders) and we are still there,” Arteta told reporters. “There’s still two games to go. We can still be champions against probably the best team in the history of the Premier League.

“We are still there and we're not going to bottle it, that’s for sure. What happens next season depends on how we evolve and how we start.”
