Boy, 14, suffered 'life-changing' injuries in north Manchester stabbing

A 14-year-old boy suffered 'life-changing' injuries after being stabbed in north Manchester. Police say the victim was knifed 'several times' in the attack in Newton Heath on Wednesday.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with section 18 wounding and possession of a bladed article in connection with the attack. He was due to appear in court today (Friday).

Police were called to Fenchurch Avenue at about 5.30pm on Wednesday. The injured boy was treated at the scene by paramedics and been taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Det Insp Paddy Connell appealed for witnesses to come forward. He said: "The victim sustained life-changing injuries and remains in hospital following the incident.

"We have had an increased police presence in the area since the incident and are carrying out enquiries but we are still looking for information from the public to piece together what happened."
