'We understand...' - Ornstein reveals Arteta now eyeing Arsenal star's friend

Journalist David Ornstein has said that Arsenal admire Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the Gunners thought to be ‘monitoring’ his situation at Everton.

The Gunners appear to be looking for a new striker this summer as they aim to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left during the January transfer window. Between them, centre-forwards Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have managed just 13 goals in all competitions – a number which can obviously be improved upon.

Reports have emerged saying Arsenal are leading the race for Manchester City’s Jesus, but Ornstein has also revealed they are looking at Calvert-Lewin.

He told The Athletic Football Podcast: “One of the players that we understand they have admiration for is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, we’ve reported that before, and they’ll be monitoring closely what happens at Everton, of course, and also whether he sort of returns to form because he’s not had the best season. It’s been a little bit disrupted by injuries, but he does have admirers at the Emirates Stadium.”
