We simulated Manchester United vs Crystal Palace to predict Carabao Cup clash

Manchester United will begin their Carabao Cup title defence on Tuesday night when Erik ten Hag's side face Crystal Palace in the third round of the competition.

After a tough few weeks of results, United got back to winning ways on the weekend with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over newly-promoted Burnley. It was the first win in four games for Ten Hag, with the victory moving United up to ninth in the Premier League.

Attention turns away from the league on Tuesday though, with United facing Palace in the Carabao Cup third round at Old Trafford. Last season saw United win the domestic competition, beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final at Wembley.

So, could United pick up a win against Palace on Tuesday night? Let's take a look.

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that United could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Bayindir; Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Reguilon; Amrabat, Eriksen, Hannibal; Pellistri, Martial, Garnacho.

We predict that Palace could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Henderson; Clyne, Richards, Guehi, Mitchell; Riedewald, Hughes; Rak-Sakyi, Eze, Schlupp; Mateta.

After an even start to the clash at Old Trafford, it was Crystal Palace who took the lead in the 35th minute, with a blocked shot falling into the path of Will Hughes in the box who swept home from close range. United came out the better side in the second half, and they managed to pull level not long after the restart.
