'We are scared of them' - Pep Guardiola has Man City Champions League fear

Manchester City are still scared of drawing Europe's elite clubs in the Champions League, insists Pep Guardiola.

But after seeing his side ease into the quarter-finals for the seventh year in a row, Guardiola warned the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid that they should also fear City. City repeated their 3-1 away win over FC Copenhagen last month at the Etihad on Wednesday to complete a 6-2 aggregate win. The Blues boss dismissed the idea that the tie was easy.

And despite marching into the quarter-finals as defending champions, the manager admitted he will be worried if Real Madrid, PSG or Bayern are drawn to face City in next Friday's last eight draw. "If you play against Bayern Munich, how many Champions Leagues they have and the history they have. We respect all of them, we are scared too. I don't know if they are but we are," Guardiola said.

He did concede that City's record in Europe shows how well-prepared they are for another quarter-final. Last season, they demolished Bayern over two legs before brushing aside Real in the semi-finals.

"I say to the players, maybe it's not enough for you," he continued. "For me, every time the group stage we go through, I know how difficult it is. People say it's only Copenhagen, fine. I give a lot of credit. It looks like aggregate 6-2 is easy. It's not.
