'From now on' - Pep Guardiola challenges Man City fans after Manchester United atmosphere

Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City fans to bring the noise they produced against Manchester United for every remaining home game this season.

City's manager tried to quieten the crowd in the first half of the derby when there was impatience over the speed at which the team were playing, then revved them up after the break as they tried to lift the players. Guardiola was delighted with the atmosphere and wants more of the same as they face up to the critical part of the campaign with important matches at home.

That begins on Saturday, with an FA Cup quarter-final at home to Newcastle. City face Arsenal in the Premier League at the end of the month, and also have the second leg of their quarter-final against Real Madrid at the Etihad; Arsenal or Bayern Munich will visit in the semi-final should City progress.

Guardiola is expecting another tight match against Newcastle, with the three matches they have played against each other so far this season settled by solitary goals. City lost in the Carabao Cup but did the double in the league, helped by a late recovery at St James' Park that saw them turn a 2-1 loss into a 3-2 win.

"This season and the previous one and the previous one since Eddie Howe was there and the Saudi Arabia takeover they have been really tight games. I don't expect any different tomorrow," said Guardiola.

"We have an incredible chance at home with our people. From now on until the end of the season we need every home game to have the support of our fans like we had against United.
