We are ready for your super stars, Crocodiles’ coach tells Eagles

Lesotho players on arrival in Uyo…on Tuesday.

Nigeria may have some of the biggest stars in African football, but that will not guarantee the Super Eagles easy victory in their World Cup qualifier against Lesotho today, according to the Crocodiles’ caretaker coach, Leslie Notsi.

The Super Eagles will meet the Crocodiles in their opening game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Speaking on the game on arrival at Uyo on Tuesday, Notsi said his team is expecting a tough game against the three-time African champions today, adding that, on paper, the quality in the Nigerian squad is intimidating, but he promised to field a competitive team against the Eagles’ super stars.

“We are playing a tough fixture against one of the best footballing countries in Africa and in the world, a team that has qualified for the World Cups.

“You know we are expecting a tough encounter, a team made up of very fantastic players, fantastic coach and our expectation is to have a very tough match and we are taking this opportunity as a young football nation growing to come and play against the best so that we can help the exposure and experience.

“We have players who are also talented and eager to learn and grow. We are here to honour the fixture with a very competitive mindset and you know that is what we are at the moment.”

The Crocodiles’contingent to Nigeria comprises 23 players and nine officials.

They had their first feel of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium pitch yesterdayto fine-tune their strategies for the much-anticipated clash against the Super Eagles.
