Finidi rues Enyimba’s home loss to Remo Stars
Remo Stars of Ikenne defeated Enyimba 1-0 in Aba…on Wednesday.
Enyimba Coach, Finidi George, is still optimistic that his team will defend their title successfully this season despite their recent home loss to Remo Stars.
Remo Stars beat Enyimba 1-0 in Aba in an outstanding Week 5 game to inflict the first home defeat on the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, but Finidi sees the loss as a dent that would be corrected in subsequent games.
Speaking after the defeat in Aba on Wednesday, Finidi said: “You saw all the chances that we had and could not convert. They parked the bus and did not play at all in the second half, apart from some long balls they tried to deploy. All the chances came from Enyimba and if we had converted all of them, we would not be talking about which team is better.”
On the performance of his goalkeeper, who was jittery in the early minutes of the game, Finidi said his coaching crew are working to correct all the lapses, adding that Enyimba will make up for Wednesday’s loss in their next game against Sunshine Stars on Saturday.
“Normally, we are more aggressive in the first 25 minutes, but against Remo Stars we started slowly, which is uncharacteristic of our game. We didn’t enter the game with the right attitude.
“We will find out if the slow start was because of inadequate warming up; we cannot allow that to happen again.”Enyimba will host Sunshine Stars of Akure in a Week 11 game in Aba.
