Wayne Rooney provides Derby County injury update after Huddersfield Town clash
Despite a spirited display, Derby County fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Huddersfield Town last night, with Richard Stearman seeing a red card after just three minutes.
Goals from Duane Holmes and Jordan Rhodes earned the Terriers all three points, bolstering the Yorkshire club’s chances of securing a play-off spot.
It is a defeat that leaves the Rams seven points from escaping the relegation zone, and despite winning no points, there still appears to be a sense of positivity around the club on the field.
Speaking to Derbyshire Live after last night’s game, Wayne Rooney provided an injury update: “Colin (Kazim-Richards) pulled up yesterday [Tuesday] in training. He has shown a bleed on his calf. I’d say we are probably looking at four weeks for Colin.
“We are probably looking at anything between four to eight weeks for Kamil Jozwiak. We are still waiting for the report back from the specialist.
“Max Bird should be OK for the next game.”
The verdict
Derby have brilliantly dealt with every little setback that they have been dealt this season and has been a key reason for the Rams to remain positive in what remains of this campaign.
Kazim-Richards being unavailable for a while is of course another blow for the Rams, whilst Jozwiak’s continued absence is another sucker punch, however, Bird being back in the side will certainly be a big boost.
Derby look like a side who are fully capable of taking their survival fight to the very end and have battled excellently thus far.
It remains to be seen what the ultimate fate of the club might be this season, however, they can take lots of confidence from what they have displayed up until this point.
