Huddersfield Town 'fortunate' with penalty decision against Fulham, says Mick McCarthy

Former Ipswich Town and Cardiff City boss Mick McCarthy believes Huddersfield Town were fortunate to win their penalty against Fulham.

Duane Holmes converted from the spot to double Town's lead at the time, with Bobby Decordova-Reid halving the deficit in the second-half.

Town put in one of their best performances of the season and while they deserved the three points, McCarthy believes the Terriers were somewhat fortuitous.

Marco Silva was fuming with the officials in the aftermath of the result claiming they had made a "clear mistake."

When asked whether the Fulham boss had a case for his complaints, McCarthy said: "Absolutely, the striker has made his run right across him there. Thomas has kept going and I think he's bought it, I think the keeper has stopped and is looking to block the shot.

"it's a touch off Ream that has put him off his balance and I think Fulham are a touch unfortunate with that.

"If I'm the Huddersfield manager I'm saying that's brilliant because he's got across the keeper and earned it.

"They've missed five [penalties] and it wasn't the most confident one but they've scored it straight down the middle."
